BATON ROUGE- Forum 35 held their annual Community Impact Breakfast for Baton Rouge leaders and community members on January 17th at Juban's Restaurant. The event spotlighted the organization’s vision for the city and priorities for the future. Special guest speakers included Stephen Waguespack, President and CEO of the Louisiana Association of Business Industry, along with opening remarks from Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome as well as presentation of the Baton Rouge Original, Baton Rouge Young Professional and Corporate Member of the Year awards.

The BR Original and BR Original Young Professional are community awards with nominations sought annually from inside and outside the organization to assist the Board of Directors in choosing an appropriate winner.

This year's BR Original award was given to Heather Sewell Day, owner of The Red Cake Event Planning, and local superstar. Day has been active in Baton Rouge non-profit work for over 25 years including serving as president of Forum 35 along with so many great organizations. According to her nomination, "Heather epitomizes what being a Baton Rouge Original is all about. She has spent countless hours giving back to the community she lives in. She is committed to South Louisiana and...knows that you are only a part of your community when you are giving something back to it, so she gives ten fold."

Racheal Hebert, LCSW was awarded the BR Original Young Professional award for her outstanding impact to the BR community. Hebert is the founder, president & chief operating officer of Sexual Trauma Awareness and Response, or STAR, and has worked in the field of sexual trauma and violence prevention for over 10 years. According to her nomination, "[Hebert's] exceptional leadership and determined vision has had an enormous effect on survivors in the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas."

The Baton Rouge Area Chamber was also honored with Forum 35's Corporate Member of the Year award. This award is given to a corporate partner who has had the greatest impact on the organization both through active memberships and corporate support.

In keeping with the theme of the morning, Forum 35's President, Jessica Keasler also announced the organization's new mission and vision, "Forum 35’s mission is to create opportunities for Baton Rouge young professionals to grow philanthropically, professionally, and civically. And our vision is to enhance the vitality of the Baton Rouge community through civic-minded and service-oriented young professionals.
