Forum 35 has many initiatives and events throughout the year. All committee meetings are open to the public, so we invite you to drop in and find your passion!

 


Arts & Culture

 

Art Melt 
Art Melt is the largest multi-media, juried art exhibit in the state of Louisiana. Art Melt strives to promote professional artists throughout the state of Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the best of local fine art, music, and performing arts. Reindeer Run
Serious runners and casual  joggers head downtown for this fantastic 5k fun run and 1 mile jog. Reindeer Run coincides with the Downtown Festival of lights in December. Chair: Laura Siu Nguyen, reindeer@forum35.org

 

One Book One Community

The One Book One Community initiative aims to use a common and compelling reading experience to: one, inspire thought-provoking dialogue among readers; two, to increase visibility of issues relevant to the community; and three, to raise awareness of literacy issues within our area. oboc@forum35.org  

 

 

Diversity 

 

Diversity
The cultural diversity initiative strives to help build a Forum 35 that represents the community we live in. This is done by promoting dialogue, discussion, and activities that expose our current membership to Baton Rouge's rich and diverse culture.  



Leadership 

 

Forum Friday 
Forum Friday is our monthly membership luncheon featuring a local speaker addressing issues specifically targeted to the needs and concerns of Baton Rouge-area young professionals and leaders. Chair: Brooke Hathaway friday@forum35.org    

John W. Barton, Sr. Community Leadership Development Program
This program enables members to develop their leadership skills for community board service while promoting community involvement and volunteerism in Baton Rouge. Chairs: Morgan Kastner and Meredith LaBorde. Contact: barton@forum35.org 

 

Leadership Hour

Leadership Hour comprises quarterly, hour-long training sessions designed to teach skills and offer time for discussion around issues to strengthen leadership qualities. These qualities will help position our membership for growth within their Forum 35 role and everyday life. Chair: Kylee Arnold, leadership@forum35.org

 

 

Service

 

Uncorked
Young professionals couple their love for wine, their passion for a good cause and their desire to mix and mingle with like-minded people in a fun, casual social setting. Chairs: Ryan Newchurch and Austin Delery, uncorked@forum35.org 

Service Committee
The service committee decides what projects and volunteer opportunities to offer the membership and then coordinates our involvement in the service activity. Chairs: Amy Cimo and Liz Davenport, service@forum35.org

 

Public Education Project

Forum 35’s Public Education Project (PEP) is for those passionate about supporting education initiatives in Baton Rouge. The purpose of the committee is to partner with one school each school year in order to support opportunities to enhance the school environment and provide resources and opportunities for students. Chairs: Olivia Ohlsen and Ethan Melancon, pep@forum35.org

 

 

Communications

Get involved with Forum 35's communications committee! We meet on the third Monday of each month at La Madeline on Jefferson/Corporate from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

 

Are you a communications major? Just graduated with a communications degree? Already in the field but looking for more practice and skill development? Love drinking coffee and making new friends? Then Forum 35's Communications Committee is perfect for you! As a member of this committee, you'll be assisting Forum 35 with internal and external communications for the organization as a whole, as well as specific projects and events. In this committee, you can expect to gain experience in the following areas:

Social media content creation/curation/management
Writing press releases and content for weekly/monthly e-newsletters 
Website content creation/curation
Strategic public relations and marketing/advertising
Networking with other communications professionals


Our committee meetings are open to all Forum 35 members, as well as those who haven't joined but want to see what we're all about. If you are a chair for any of Forum's other committees, it is highly encouraged that you attend at least one of these meetings. Contact: communications@forum35.org
